Will et al.- I used OpenOffice 1.0.3 to prepare my dissertation, so I have some experience with it. I have found that a lot of Calc functions have different names than their Excel counterparts -- I ended up buying a StarOffice book and making copious notes on the endpapers about all sorts of things. For example, I cannot remember offhand what the [linear] regression function is called, but it is something rather unintuitive. I did a LOT of reading of the built-in documentation, and it is worth noting that the built-in 1.1 docs are MUCH better than than 1.0 docs (were).
Jeremy -- if you e-mail me off-list and let me know what sorts of analysis functions you need, I will dig around in my book and notes and see if they are implemented in OOo 1.1. > A quick look at Star Office 6.0 leaves me stumped. They have other > names for their tools, so I don't know exactly what they do. John. -- Dr. John B.
