Louisiana is great for astronomical events :O) Sometimes you need to step away just a bit...as you did off the highway. It's like standing by a floodlight on the porch. You see better if you're not right by it. The stars should begin lighting up with a short drive away from the congestion of the city. Flying in at night gives you a better understanding of the light pollution. Looks like a huge tap light. You can see the Baton Rouge haze better, too. Kinda scary.
James' family is only a few minutes north and northwest of Baton Rouge. It's great at night.
