Working at LSU and listening to a handful of the guys on this list sounding-off on the campus lists. I don't think any other department on campus comes close to the Linux machine count we have in our department (excluding the main LSU cluster) right now, so it's great watching the campus move away from closed models and contracts as well. 'Remote Procedure Call' in Windows has been a great boone in that respect. I also still use "The Tiger's Den" mouse pad with my main system and have his old Amiga 500 within a few feet. For years I've been toying with the idea of hooknig the A500 up via serial to a net-connected Linux machine and set up a few accounts that would default to a basic ANSI-supported terminal program. That way people could SSH in and do lame things like post to a 15 year old BBS or play pfiles. Seems more appropriate than trying to do it all through UAE. But that's not why I wanted to contact him. I've been hearing a little bit about you and others. I plan to be at the Solid Systems tour next week since Will's an old friend of mine, so I hope to see you again and some of the others on here. Last time I went to a BRLUG meet though I won a book. Maybe this time an Apple ][GS? ;) -Jeff
