It's funny you should mention it, but I know how to program in RPG. BUT, it's been some 15 years since I've done any of it.
A more suitable solution might be to get the data off of the AS/400 machine, and then use a more modern language to extract the data. If I remember correctly, every implementation of RPG abstracted the hardware layer beneath it, so it's not platform specific (and theoretically not too difficult).
