These are some of the "Sneak Peek 2004" from forbes. there are from
editors and authors from forbes. One of them that particularly
interesting to read is from this guy Daniel Lyons(i am going to stop
short of calling him a weasel 'cause I don't want to offend one)

The Unconventional Wisdom
The end of "free." Free didn't work for dotcom pet food stores, yet much
of the rhetoric around technologies like Linux and voiceover-IP still
involves this crazy notion that companies can make money by giving
things away. They can't. One sign that some are recognizing that this is
folly: Red Hat's move to migrate its Linux customers to a paid-for
"enterprise" version of its software. Others will follow suit. The
interesting moves around voiceover-IP will not involve "free" phone
calls; rather they will be the way telecom vendors can use this
technology to get an edge on rivals.

Redhat is moving its customers?hmmm. Its my understanding that all they
did was give redhat("free") back to the community. In fact I did not see
much difference between fedora and rehat("free").
I understand that most of us(that includes me) misunderstood redhat's
intentions when they announced about fedora.I guess fedora has an
excellent chance for becoming a better distribution. Also even if
(that's a big if) redhat goes out of business I am sure fedora would be
alive.
Right now I am in India for a month and kinda seeing linux ads around.
HP is giving ads for computers pre-loaded with Turbo Linux.
Unfortunately what's going to happen after the computer is bought a
pirated copy of windows would be on it the very same day. Right now the
problem here in India is for years people have been locked on to windows
and the basic idea about UNIX is that its dead and its a "server
software".
