I've got an autofs question I'm hoping one of you linux gurus can answer. I'm using LDAP for user authentication and want to start using autofs to mount users' home directories on different machines. With NIS+ and autofs on Solaris (which I'm more familiar with) you put all your home directories in /export/home and then autofs mounts them to /home/username when needed. I seem to remember reading at some point that under linux vfs was smarter in that you didn't need to use /export/home because the system knew that if you were on the server sharing the home directories, it didn't need to automount them. Can anyone clarify that for me?
