I did a bit of research.  Alex doesn't offer much
LUG-wise, but from my experience in the military, I
suspect you can find help from the various military
interests.  You may already be well connected.  If
not, contact me off-list and I can possibly provide a
name or phone number for an official starting point. 
Even the Military has clubs; I mean clubs that do not
invlove copius amounts of alcohol.  If such a club
does not exist, there are USO grants to start them, I
think they can provide up to 25K. (This is not current
info, I've been out a while.)  Connectivity to
over-seas soldiers is a priority though, so a LUG
might get good play if they provided families with a
kiosk to contact soldiers overseas.  Just a
suggestion.
