Yeah, you just have to use it enough. I'm so used to it I end up hitting escape in other editors,mail clients, etc. when I want to go from typing to moving the cursor. Vi is still the only editor you can be guarenteed will be in every vendor's unix. I have yet to get on a unix box and not have vi at my disposal. It's also a very fast editor, it loads quick, has a small memory footprint, and is very efficent to use. I used to be able to open a config file, jump to the line I needed to edit, change it and save it before my counter part could even get his editor open and get to the line that needed editing. One reason I hated outlook so much was when you hit Esc in an email you are composing what happens? Outlook cancels the message (or at least asks you if you want to cancel it) argh.
