One idea i have is to encrypt all the data with a public key. Then store
the pass-phrased private key on a chip that is implanted into each sales'
reps left ear lobe. Not only would a cracker need the pass phrase, they'd
need the employee's left ear. When one-eared employees start showing up,
switch to the right ear. If the employee's are resistant to this, you
could use a USB storage key, those are getting pretty cheap. Of course
the client app would need a way to read the key.

We're assuming you are taking all necessary precautions as far as
server/network config to lessen the chance of attack?

Finally i'd remind this customer that the vast majority of hacks come from
inside. Be just as distrustful of these sales reps as Joe Hacker on the
net. You only hear about the "BIG" Joe Hacker attacks on CNN and Yahoo.
Inside jobs happen all the time, and we never hear about it (most
companies don't like to advertise that sort of thing)....
