Pride? Shame?

I would assume they would use their own toolset, but I
could be wrong. NT _is_ basically VMS with a GUI, so I
guess they could be using real tools to develop their
OSs with. :)

True.

However, Microsoft gurus who sound like they know say
it can't be the complete source to XP, as that is
~50GB. And others have pointed out that in the
supposed file list there are subdirectories for "ppc /
ppcmac / alpha / mips". Of course, it could be just
part of the complete source.

I am going to reserve judgement until there is more
evidence available. Now that the story has hit /.,
every pimply-faced, thrill-seeking geek is going to be
seeding P2P servers with gigabytes of garbage claiming
it is the Windows source.

At best, it is an unsubstantiated rumor.
