The author, Russell Jones, is the Executive Editor of
DevX.com. I am very surprised and disturbed that
someone at that level of a supposedly unbiased website
devoted to covering computer programming and
development technologies would be so obviously biased
against open source software.

IMO, he is a Microsoft shill and is acting at
Microsoft's request, as Microsoft is the major
advertiser on DevX's site. This begs the question:
What is the taxonomy of various IT media
organizations? In other words, which IT magazines does
Microsoft own and have a major influence in
controlling published content? It is obvious that the
majority of free and open source advertising and
content is web based, I assume because of the low cost
and geek-oriented nature of it.

So if you are not already aware of it, media can be
biased in the reporting. Try to always determine who
owns the media outlet to determine the bias.
