Howdy,

I am not going to be able to demonstrate installing
Mepis Linux on a PC for the next newbies meeting on
3/15/04. I broke my leg last Saturday and will be
getting surgery on it next Tuesday morning.

Would someone be willing to give a demonstration on
installing Mepis Linux to a group of Linux newbies?
The location is a classroom setup with excellent A/V
capabilities. A working PC will be required for the
demonstration, though it may be possible to organize
such a machine through the CCCC Linux SIG. Since Mepis
is a bootable Linux CD, a working CDROM drive that can
be booted is required in the demo PC.

This demonstration is the third and final class of a
three-part series to introduce newbies to Linux using
Mepis Linux as the target distro. However, this
demonstration should be able to stand on its own,
without requiring knowledge of what transpired at the
previous two classes. Of course, knowing how to
install Mepis Linux would be helpful. Luckily, the
Mepis installation is one of the easiest out of most
Linux distributions out there. Mepis Linux
(http://www.mepis.org) is based on Debian, so if you
know Debian you will be in familiar territory.

There are a bunch of Linux newbies who have been
attending the class who would be very grateful if
someone volunteered. In fact, a few volunteers would
certainly be welcomed as then there would be more
people to answer questions. And it would be a big help
to me.

Thanks!
