No "InstallFest" planned, though people who bring
their machines weren't going to be ignored.
Great. I'll also bring a copy of SystemRescueCD to do partitioning if
we need it. By the way, is that in the club library? If not, I make one for the
club as well.

Yup.
Do you have

No, unfortunately. I was going to let the Mepis
install procedure drive the presentation. I was
planning to spend a lot of time explaining how the
partitioning tools works and how to install both on an
empty hard drive and a drive with another OS on it
(Windoze), as well as how to recover (boot the Windoze
CD, run 'fdisk /mbr' or similar).
That works for me. I can even bring two hard drives, on blank and one
with Window$ on it to facilitate that. (I sure hope I remember how to install
Window$!...hehe) I will also bring a Window$ boot disk. I guess we could even
show how to restore LILO after doing fdisk /mbr as well.

No, unless we had lots of free time left over. I was
thinking of having future classes/meetings that cover
those topics in more detail.
Great idea. I was thinking, if we have time, maybe we could set them up
with a stable /usr/apt/sources.list file if they want to play with installing
other applications and show them how to use Synaptic or Aptitude. Those work
almost as easily as does Xandros Networks.

Will Hill offered to back you up. It is possible to
reschedule but frowned upon by the CCCC. It is up to
you and Will at this point. I'm going to be out of
action for two months minimum.
Lets just plan on our regularly scheduled time and hope for the best.
Will, would you like to connect over the weekend and get my machine
just incase I get called out during the day Monday? My cell number is 964-2606.
John, I once saw a t-shirt with the inscription "GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY,
GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL". If I ever see it again I will purchase one for each of
us, because I don't plan on growing up either! .... :)
Get well soon,
Ed
