Hi Cleve,
Sound like you are having a great deal of fun at work. I bet you would
still be reading those manuals over the weekend even if it was not your
job, that would be something I would do.
About the HOWTO I think that is a great idea and the Linux community
will benefit greatly. I completely agree with you that HOWTOS are very
difficult to follow and always have sections such as "if you do not know
this read that" or "explanation of this is beyond the scope of this
HOWTO" Then you go to another one that says the exact same thing and
then you end up trying to find some tool that does the job
automatically. There are so many things that I have no idea how to do
and it is not that I have not tried looking for documentation or
reading.
Go for it! I think it would be easy to use other people's material.
Simply email them and and I sure you will get a prompt response stating
that it is ok. In addition, if you really need to use it you could
always quote them. It think that takes care of the legal issue, does it
not?
I have thought in the past about doing some of the translations.
However, I once tried and I discover that everything I have ever learned
about computers is in English therefore I would have to do some
relearning so that was the death of that thought.
take care,
Alvaro
