Another example: The state is stopping all snail-mail deliveries of direct-deposit slips to employees. From now on, all employees will have to log into a web site (LEO) to view their pay stubs and things like leave information. They're being told that if they don't have access to a computer, that just about every public library in the state has terminals with internet access that they can use. So... if you run a library, prepare yourself for a bunch of irate near-retirees flooding in wanting to see how much/little they're getting paid. It's in the best interest all-around to make these terminals as simple and stripped-down as possible. Any non-essential applications will just decrease reliability and possibly expose the library or patrons to unneeded risk. If people come in wanting to tinker with Linux or computers, point them to the shelf where the FOSSILE CDs are available for checkout so they can install such things on their own computers at home. (They're there, right??? ;)
