Call the 1-800 number - I ordered an N-series a while back. The ms-os
machines were listed with free shipping, free cd/dvd write upgrade and a
mail-in rebate. When I called, they let me order the n-series with the same
freebies.

Speaking of this, i'm about to order a new Dell for my dad. Dell finally
has the N-series systems (comes with non-MS OS) displayed right next to
the Microsoft OS systems. So i thought cool, i can finally get a system
without paying MS tax, and save a few bucks.

But the MS OS systems come with a free LCD monitor upgrade. The N-series
do not. So building the system with exact same hardware, it costs about
$80 MORE to get a system *WITHOUT* XP installed. I don't know why Dell
would offer the upgrade on MS systems and not N-series systems... which
are exactly the same as far as hardware. I'm not as good a conspiracy
theorist as some on the list, but can't help wondering if Microsoft has a
hand in this.
