It was slow and it hurt, but I just finished putting Sarge on a P1 133MHz 
machine.  It worked with 64MB of RAM and the system took about 2.5 Gigs of 
drive space.   Included were KDE 3.2, Open Office and other goodies.  X set 
up painlessly and the Gnome Display Manager was used.   A 15 meg boot 
partiton solved BIOS boot problems for the 80 gig hard drive.  Grub was set 
up with a rescue boot option that proved handy when the victim's control 
character filled password goofed GDM. 

I was surprised by how well the system ran.   It boots in reasonable time and 
KDE is usable.  Fluxbox ran faster, of course.  The victim said that the 
machine boots and runs faster than their virused up Windows 98 on similar or 
better hardware.  Such new software running on such old hardware was very 
impressive.
