That means you are using the smrsh (sendmail restricted shell) feature. Sendmail won't execute any arbitrary command. It'll only run commands in or linked in the smrsh dir, normally /etc/smrsh. You could put the .forward line in a script, put the script in /etc/smrsh, then pipe to it from your .forward file. Also some distro's are now directly using procmail as the LDA (local delivery agent). If so and your .procmailrc is in place, you may not even need the .forward. Check your sendmail.mc file and see if you see MAILER(procmail). ray
