I remember someone looking for software to sync a handheld and a cell phone
with their desktop, so I thought I'd pass this on.

Kandy may not be there yet, but it's on the way. The sarge deb package
description is:

"Kandy is more or less a terminal program with some special features to store
commands and theri parameters, but it also has a simple GUI to access the
phone book of a mobile phone and it is able to save this phone book to the
KDE address book.

Kandy is aimed at mobile phones with integrated (GSM) modems

This package is part of the official KDE pim module."

Wow, the grand unified desktop. The PIM already does a nice job of syncing
with palms. It even gets the notes on my visor, which Outlook lost. It
would be very nice to be able to get phone numbers off my cell phone and have
them end up in kaddress without doing that by hand.
