No, but I did goto to the LONI forum in Baton Rouge today. Some interesting talks about the converging LONI and NLR networks (LONI will be a 10 gigabit/sec statewide fiber network). It was cool to see all the research going on in the state, and why they need so much bandwidth. There was a great talk on LIGO and gravitational waves... this speaker mentioned that when fully operational, LIGO will be logging a terabyte of data per DAY (thus the need for a high speed network to move it all around!). Pretty sweet... Shannon when are we doing another LIGO tour?!
Governor Blanco showed up for a surprise visit, and pledged to fund LONI at $4million/year for the next 10 years. The forum continues on friday at the Pennington center in BR. ray On Thu, 2 Sep 2004, Shannon Roddy wrote: > Oh well... I didn't make it.
