Get to know your surroundings! Lafayette can end up being pretty damn good
if you get to know the people and places. James can keep a good look out
for you. Sometimes it takes a while, but you'll be that much more happier.
Don't forget to check the Conference Center (meaning Talk to some of the
students working there) and Foster Hall (I think room 218) for a possible
campus job to hold you over. The Vermillion I believe is hiring and listed
some web job in this week's issue. Darn, maybe I should have told Mat.
Also, don't look so down on the free dial-up. It is free and
available...better than having nothing at all.

As for me, a friend gave me a tip on a possible job at a private elementary
school. I need to tell you the story of the crazy lady at my office.

Good Luck! S.

Does anyone know if cox blocks the incomming ports at the Cable modem level
or at their firewall to the internet?
Also does anyone know that if EATEL home dsl package blocks ports also. I am
wondering about the EATEL thing since they are running the fiber optic line
in my front yard.

I use Eatel DSL and I know they do not block any
ports.

You should use Eatel's fiber optic service, as the
bandwidth will be probably more than twice what you
are getting now with Cox:

And Eatel is also looking to license cable television
content to stream it over your fiber optic connection:

Neeeato!

I'm envious of you. :) I called Eatel recently and
they said they don't have a date set for offering
fiber optic in my neighborhood. :P
