Most of the Ultra-ATA 100/133 ones that used to come free with Maxtor
hard drives work like a champ in linux.
I have a Promise Ultra "somethingoranother" 4 port IDE controller card in my
box at home and it works just great with Xandros. I had tried a few other
distros on that box and their install routines sometimes get the drives
confused, but I've been able to work through it. I have one 60 gig and one 100
gig drive, one CD burner and one DVD burner on the on-board controller and one
100 gig drive, one 160 gig drive and one CD burner on the IDE card and
everything seems to be perfectly happy. Hmmmmm wonder what I can put on the
last port on the IDE card?
