My experience with Solaris on x86 has always been similar. Never could detect video. The one time i did actually get it installed (i guess Solaris 7 or 8), there were no drivers for the (pretty common) network card, so the install was useless. I also ended up installing linux. Solaris runs great on Sun hardware. That's about all you can say. You can get an older sparc box pretty cheap on eBay. And it's cool when your Windows friends come over and see it and say 'WTF is that??', since to them, "computer" == "Intel". ray
