I also have had horrible problems with, as I call them, stinkpads :P

I've had the most horrible luck with Thinkpads, both at LSU (when I
worked with Chris) and since then.  HD's dying, screens going out,
horrible battery life issues, thin ribbon cables ripping when trying
to do maintenance, keyboards breaking, etc.

Laptops in general are a pain in my rear.
