It is now called SACS (www.sacs.org, Southern Association of Colleges and 
Schools).  The name change probably came about when they started 
accrediting K-12 public and private schools.  Southeastern is in the 
middle of SACS reaccreditation now.  I think it happens every 10 years, 
and a lot of federal and state funds rely on accreditation, so it's pretty 
important.

SACS is for the entire university.  Individual departments can also be 
accredited.  I believe ABET (www.abet.org, Association Board for 
Engineering and Technology) is the org that does computer science 
accreditation. You can search their site, but here are the computer 
science accredited programs in La. Note that LSU-Shreveport is on the 
list, LSU-BR is not.
