Found on slashdot.org: Here is a good blog entry on the legal ramifications of the GPL, and how the GPL is being used to protect open source code against illegal use.
Background: Maui X-Stream is a company that created a software application using GPL licensed source code and then sold it to the public as its own work _without_ providing the derived source code. The author describes how he deconstructed the application to prove that open source applications were used to create the offending software. Favorite quote: "'Open-source codes' are protected by copyright, and with the way things are starting to go in this country, if forced to choose between being caught with a van full of pirated DVDs or heroin you'd actually have to pause and think about it." http://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/000534.html John Yahoo!
