If you want a Palm, fix your Palm or buy another off ebay. It might be easier
than you think to fix. Palms are still more practical for battery life,
durability, and sync.

My little brother fixed his Palm III last year after two or three years of it
being broken. It turned out to be a trivial loose parts issue that showed
up in web searches.

If you can't fix the old one, you can get a new old one! Old Palms are
everywhere. I recently bought my wife a Handspring Visor on ebay for $26,
and I imagine similar Palm devices would be as cheap.

If you use Outlook, I'm sure Zaurus will be an improvement over Wince and you
will love it. It's still not as easy as Palm which is well dealt with by
both Gnome and KDE but a Zaurus is a nifty tool.

OpenZaurus is incredible and someone like you would have a great time with it.
Opie has miniature versions of all the KDE stuff and I'm told that it's
almost as easy to sync as Palm now. GPE brings the whole world of X to
Zaurus and I think it syncs with Evolution. I've got Dillo, Mini-Mozilla,
OpenSSH and a few other nice programs working on GPE. It's only a matter of
time before someone makes a wireless ssh sync work and then OpenZaurus will
be the easiest thing to sync in the world. Right now it's not but it has
other things to offer you might enjoy.
