Have you tried running Knoppix or Mepis on it? Their auto configuration usually does a better job than I can by hand. Mepis should just barely run in the 128 MB of RAM but Knoppix should do well. If you can't copy the configuration files directly, you can learn what's wrong and fix it by hand.
