If it would promise to be something more than name-calling and
slap-fighting, yes.

Otherwise, we have to poke em with sticks first so they get their dander up.

I've got audacity, thanks. My wife is interested in multi track recording and
mixing for her guitar playing. One day we are going to set up a quiet
computer in the guest bed room and record her singing and playing.

I'll pass on the pod cast. Most of you should be able to hear me laughing
without it. The jedi amongst you should be able to feel it. It would not
take much effort to see and hear me in real time by back orifice.

The super hype me idea is strangely attractive. Medical Physics gave me a
laptop with XP and Office on it. Could I really get by with it? As a full
test, I'd have to rely entirely on the much hyped technical support that
Microsoft and Dell provide and do everything exactly as they tell me. In the
spirit of commercial stupidity and "helping your neighbor is bad" I could not
ask anyone else for advice, including this list, classmates or LSU staff. It
would be funny.

It's too risky right now and I'd rather spend my time learning more about free
software. This semester, for instance, I'm taking an advanced imaging class.
If I were to take the challenge, I'd end up using IDL instead of XMaxima
(http://www.ma.utexas.edu/maxima.html). I may end up using IDL anyway
because it runs on a Red Hat machine I have an account on but I'd lose any
chance of using Maxima and that would hurt. I also don't have time to set up
again. I've figured out how to get things done at Mary Bird and LSU.
Between research, school and CCCC, I'm maxed out.
