for the past few of months i have been giving out live cds to friends to
introduce them to linux. after enjoying the discs some have asked me to then
install linux on their system so they could learn more about it. I don't say
anything bad about windows and i usually set them up as a dual boot system. as
their questions become more technical i am trying to steer them to the club as
new members...(time will tell?)

i am finally experimenting with creating custom remastered cds. i believe
that a custom cd with info and links to contact brlug or cajun clickers would
be a great promotional tool.

the process is not really that difficult and i have had some success.
so far i was able to make a remastered DSL image on a 166mhz 64mb pent laptop.
i then copied the iso image over my home network to a machine with a cd
burner and burned the disk.
i was able to do this on such a small machine by booting up in the command
line. so far i have been able to add packages and window manager themes to
customize the disk. but to change other files will require me to open a second
shell during a pause in the remaster script. i may have to transfer the hard
drive to another unit with more ram and run the script from a term in fluxbox.
can anyone tell me how to open more than one shell from the command line
(level 2 boot)?
also is anyone else interested in a "brlug live cd" that we could give out at
events etc.
i would enjoy any ideas or maybe a little healthy competition from other
members!
