I have some AIX experience :).  Is this the problem?

If so what compiler and what version of AIX?  I've always had better luck 
using IBM's xlc compiler rather than gcc.  Sounds like you're missing a 
gcc library somewhere.  I could try compiling auth_ldap.so on one of my 
boxes...
