Last week we had some internet outages, mainly due I believe to RR being taken over by Comcast.
I noticed some odd behavior from some, but not all of the Linux boxes on our network while the internet was out. Some of the boxes were experiencing very slow network performance while not connected to the internet. I have an Old Woody box that is not affected, and two Sarge boxes that are not affected by this. The two Sarge boxes are easy to explain, one is running Bind and the other nscd. I don't know why the Woody box is still working correctly. I am looking for where I can set my Linux boxes to not use reverse DNS lookup. How can setup my local network to respond correctly on reverse DNS without putting every machine in the /etc/hosts file? Please point me in the right direction to some sources that will help me resolve and understand this. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
