True, ESX server isn't free:

but the VMWare server product is free:
http://www.vmware.com/products/server/

I'm sure you can get support either way, but you'll have to pay for support.

I'm not sure you'll need ESX though. Be sure to compare both and make
sure ESX is truly what you need.
