Today, Brian Nichols took some time to talk to me and what he said is mostly
good news. If you want software freedom at LSU you can have it. There are
no plans for centralized administrative control of GNU/Linux systems and
there will be no problems connecting free systems to LSU's network. This
policy and any technical problems that it causes are one more reason to
migrate to free software.

Those of you who anticipate significant problems should use this policy as an
excuse to set up GNU/Linux pilot programs if not full migration.

Mr. Nichols did not get the email I sent the other day. He's given me another
address to use and I will share his answers when I get them.
