Yeah, that was my first reaction when someone showed me the radiation a microwave emits. The microwave should get you a dirty enough band to do your tests. If you still specifically want to test interference from other APs, go for it. I'm not sure of the parameters of your experiment. The WiSpy should give you enough information if you need to record different interference patterns.
