At home, I use the /etc/cron.daily type of folders, though that leaves a 
little to be desired.  It would be nice if the scripts in there would be run 
as the user that owns them (without getting into sticky bits), so that users 
could use it too.

At work, we use /var/spool/cron/crontabs/{username} to handle things.  But 
that directory isn't accessible to normal users, and the cron jobs for the 
privileged roles are controlled by a central authority.
