I used a cheap Cat 2900 series I found on eBay. I believe it was a
2924XL. Maybe 100 bucks?

Also agree on the 2600's.  It's one of the most common smaller routers 
you'll see in the "real world".  The 2600 will help with routing, but 
doesn't the CCNA exam also cover a good bit of switching?  What are
ya'll 
doing to study for the switching?
