We were looking, about a year or so ago, for someone who could fill a basic 
entry level tech position and were approached by someone moving to BR and 
looking for a job.  The requirements were (a) ability to read simple circuit 
diagrams. (b) use a soldering iron.

The resume looked passable, and they knew up front what we were looking for - 
they showed up for the interview.  Turns out that they can't even identify 
components on a schematic and have never used a soldering iron.

I don't think that people really expect resumes to be read anymore...
