What is everyone using these days for multiple monitors?
I had 1 computer setup using Compiz, which is cool (first time i've
used it on my own computer).
I really like using it, much more than multiple desktops. But then i
got an extra monitor. So i thought,
great, i'll use the second monitor and Compiz at the same time. There
is a youtube video out there
with someone using multiple monitors and compiz, so somehow it can be
done. This lead me to a lot
of reading. Of course the gold standard for multi monitors is/was
Xinerama. But as of 9/2007
Sourceforge says xinerama is deprecated. Bummer. So, what's next? X11
says they're moving their
multi monitor support to xrandr. Anyone been using that?
Since compiz/multiple monitors don't seem to like each other all that
well, i thought at the very least
i'd like to rotate my second monitor 90degrees, but i can't do that
with Xinerama. I might can do it
with xrandr but the older distro i'm running has an old X11 and an old
intel driver. I can upgrade and
try some bleeding edge distro, i don't really care about that.

I'm just curious how others are doing multiple monitors and/or compiz?

Also, i found some info about DMX (Distributed Multihead support) and
this lambdavision group set that up.
It looks very cool, but out of my price range!
