Jon Hall of Linux Magazine tells students to avoid Universities that force non free software on them:
http://www.linux-magazine.com/online/blogs/paw_prints_writings_of_the_maddog/universities_that_do_not_use_free_software_time_for_a_boycott or http://tinyurl.com/5997p7 I agree and think it applies to more than computer science students. The lesson taught by non free software is contrary to the mission of every school and better schools have already moved on. Why go to a school that wastes student fee money on Ruckus, when you can go to one that has put student privacy ahead of other issues and told the RIAA to get lost? A school that wastes half a million dollars on licenses for Windows and other programs no one really needs does not have money for better network equipment. Every kind of student should take it as a bad sign if they can't walk into a public place and get free anonymous internet access regardless of OS. Teachers distribute and demand in closed source formats have not kept up with the times. If they can't, you won't be able to either. _______________________________________________ General mailing list [email protected] http://mail.brlug.net/mailman/listinfo/general_brlug.net
