I'm part of the Documentation team for Lilypond, the open-source music
notation software project. We use git, and I know a few of the key
contributors use git on Windows successfully. On Linux there's gitk and
git-gui to help on the front end, but generally I find the command line
easier. If you're interested you could check out the "Git on Windows"
