I found this a while back when I was trying to merge some PDFs under
OSX but this works fine under linux provided you have GS installed.
gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=merged.pdf
file1.pdf file2.pdf
