Probably the simplest thing is to limit all traffic from the outside world to port 80. Then if any scripting is used, not to create any server side scripts which have injection vulnerabilities.
With Samba, you can limit the access from an IP. (or range) I have not played with Samba for years so I would not remember the configs I used to have. Though smb.conf is well documented.
