So I thought that as well for the longest time, until I decided to move. Gas and rent are way most expensive in san diego. 40cents or so a gallon more for gas, but auto insurance is half as much. Rent is high if you're looking to rent a house with a yard here. Groceries are cheaper, food in restaurants generally cheaper...and here's the real kicker, traffic is better (so kinda helps with the gas thing). This is comparing a commute from LSU to pville and a commute from my office in northern san diego to my house somewhat near inner san diego, about the same distance, but not exactly going from city to suburbia.
>From my limited experience, cost of living doesn't even out as much as you might expect. I imagine if you take your BR salary and move to SD, everything would be similar except where you live. If you live in a one/two bedroom apartment in BR, you probably wouldn't really notice a change, cost of living wise. My problem is I go out way too much now (too many options) and spend way more...so if you consider that cost of living...then maybe :) On Tue, Apr 2, 2013 at 7:56 AM, Jarred White <[email protected]> wrote: > Salary is a major issue.
