Yeah, considering the amount of time I'd have to invest in a DIY approach combined with the likelihood I'd only make things worse (I've already tried the low risk remedies that I know about), paying a service doesn't seem like the worst thing that could happen. Yeah, there is some stuff on there that would be *very* helpful to have back. The controller and other assoc HW is OK.
