Hi Ashwini,

It is not uncommon to have MarkLogic Server serve as Data Layer of a larger 
system, and have a Java or .Net layer that ties different back-end systems 
together. Java Application Frameworks can also help you with security, and the 
.Net framework probably as well. Apache Tomcat for instance has out of the box 
support for authentication against LDAP. It should be fairly easy to write a 
Java servlet that serves as a MarkLogic Server proxy, if you want to keep your 
Proof of Concept simple.

I would recommend against synchronizing LDAP users with MarkLogic Server users. 
You might be able to make it work, but it will not be very robust. And future 
changes will be more difficult. Add user information as document-properties, 
rather than relying on real MarkLogic system users. Saves work on 
document-permissions in MarkLogic Server as well..
