As part of the initial face-lift for DMC, we're migrating the open source
projects source trees we host today to GitHub. The main reason to move is to
provide additional features/tools beyond the barebones svn server that we run
today, including

 * distributed vcs features and simple forking
 *   integrated issue trackers
 * nice browse and visual diff
 * browse/co via svn (no commit though)

One caveat to this are the toolkits that integrate with Microsoft specific
technologies, These we are moving to CodePlex<http://www.codeplex.com/> ,
Microsoft's open source center. We expect this will make these projects more
easily discoverable by developers looking for Microsoft-specific tech.

I know that choices of version control systems and hosting can incite riots, so
I'm hoping to keep any questions or discussion of this choice off the list.
Please note that the architecture of the updates coming to DMC allow us to
point to projects hosted externally, yet still provide a HUB/center for the
projects as a group at DMC itself. I will be happy to support and encourage
future projects to choose the tools that best help them get their job done and
if that means our pointing to other publicly available repositories, that's
fine.

Best,
Eric Bloch
