You say you have an xdbc module?  I think that is pretty much compatible 
with xcc.  I have an ancient perl XDBC module (was released as open 
source on  marklogic's old portal site) which still seems to work with a 
minor tweak to fake the protocol version number.  But I wouldn't want to 
rely on it without some extensive testing at this point.
