Hello,

we're doing a proof-of-concept using MarkLogic in Amazon's cloud. I'm
told that the server is in a virtual private cloud inside AWS.

I've installed 5.0-2 on a Windows 2008 server, and clicked on the
"free" button in order to get an Express license. And the connection
just times out.

It seems like it's trying to connect to this URL:
http://developer.marklogic.com/license/3.X/default.xqy?version=&hostname=&cpus=&platform=&target=&licensee=&company=&email=&website=&phonenumber=&address=&city=&state=&zip=&title=&usage=

but either times out or provides this debug information:

500 Internal Server Error

XDMP-CAST: (err:FORG0001) xs:integer(fn:substring-before($version,
".")) -- Invalid cast: "" cast as xs:integer
in /3.X/default.xqy, at 182:0 [0.9-ml]
$version = ""
$hostname = ""
$cpus = ""
$platform = ""
$target = ""
$licensee = ""
$company = ""
$email = ""
$website = ""
$phonenumber = ""
$usage = ""
$title = ""
$employees = ()
$address = ""
$city = ""
$state = ""
$zip = ""
$retrying = ()
$type = ()
$txpe = ()

Any help as to what's going on? Are Express licenses allowed for AWS
instances, or is the fact that the server is inside a VPC that's
causing problems?

Thanks for sharing any ideas.

cheers,
Jakob.
