Hi,

I would like to run some experiments and research with Big Data problems
on inexpensive hardware, specifically using the Raspberry Pi [1] and a
couple of other inexpensive hardware add-ons such as:

* A cheap external USB hard-disk (for bulk of data).
* SD card for a Forest fast data directory (small merges / inserts etc)
* Ethernet cable to plug into a company network.

Ideally I would like to keep my budget under £100 GBP.

I guess I am unhappy with the world's obsession with using expensive
hardware to mask poor quality code, bad engineering and misconfiguration.

I believe that with the right engineering and tuning, it is possible to
out-perform hardware which while being 1000 times more powerful, happens
to be solving the same problem but with ill-thought through design by
comparison.

To get MarkLogic running on a Raspberry Pi, I would need an ARM binary of
MarkLogic. E.g. ARM version of Fedora 14 [2]

Would it be possible to get a "one-off" port?

I absolutely don't care about stability in this instance and completely
accept that there may be lots of bugs and so on.

Regards,

Charles

P.S. I will be attending MarkLogic World in 3 weeks, if I don't get a
response here, I am happy to wait to have a chat about it there face to
face.
